I offer private 1-on-1 lessons for piano, voice/singing, and flute. All of my lessons are online and each lesson is individually customized for each student. I teach lessons to students of all ages, starting as young as 5 years old. No student is too old to learn! I have had several students even in their 80’s learning piano!

I prefer to teach beginners, starting at the beginning and helping them through to the intermediate phases. Though I have also had some students start as intermediate students and continue into more advanced stages as well.
I teach private lessons on 2 different platforms —TakeLessons.com and ForteLessons.com. TakeLessons is where I do most of my teaching but Forte is a great platform that has improved sound specifically for online music lessons. It is still developing and expanding. Account billing and more features will be available very soon. Click here to inquire about receiving an invitation to my Forte studio.
Materials for Piano Lessons
I generally like to use the Faber Piano Adventures method book series for all my piano students. They have a great set of books for the younger beginner (ages 4-6), the average child beginner (ages 7-12), and for the adult learner. For teens, I might use a combination of the middle grade books and the adult books, along with some of the supplemental material in the series. These books focus on theory, note reading, and technique along with providing fun and beautiful arrangements of a variety of pieces and styles.
On my YouTube channel I also offer a series of demo and practice videos to assist in the online learning.
Materials for Voice Lessons
For my voice students, there are a variety of books in the musical theater/broadway genre I like to use depending on the age and the level of the student. These books are chosen because the range of notes is relatively small which is good for beginners, the notes don’t go super high or super low, the rhythms are simple, and the accompaniments are easy to follow. As the students advance in their skills, we begin to add folk songs and more classical/traditional styles that are slightly more complex.
I also specialize in singing hymns, church songs, and contemporary worship songs at all levels. Included in the lessons are warmup and technique exercises, and some basic music theory. I also use a series of videos that I have created to assist with the delay that occurs when doing lessons online and these videos also provide demos and accompaniments for the student to practice with between lessons. At any time, if there is a song a student wants to work on outside of the normal lesson material, they are encouraged to bring it to the lessons for us to work on together.
Materials for Flute Lessons
For flute, we usually begin with the Accent on Achievement series of band method books, along with my own self-created materials. As the student progresses, we may also incorporate the Rubank method books, as well as some other supplemental materials. Check out my Resource page for a link to free flute music!
