Group Classes

In addition to private 1-on-1 lessons, I also offer online group classes on TakeLessons.com/live. Group classes can be a fun way to learn about a subject without the commitment required for private lessons. Group classes are often less expensive than private lessons but you don’t necessarily get the individual instruction that moves at a customized pace just for you. But they can be a great alternative if you just want to dip your toes in.

Some of my group classes offer continuous learning, progressing from week to week, similar to a private lesson, accumulating information and skills as we go. Other group classes are meant to be a one-time event to work on one particular aspect that doesn’t always require previous knowledge or a follow-up lesson like a week-to-week session.

Here are just some of the group classes I offer:

*Dozen a Day Prep Level – We practice a series of short, fun piano exercises that help improve music reading and finger movement, as well as simple techniques. This is a week-to-week class but it’s easy to jump in and out from one week to the next if need be. There is also a Level 1 and a Level 2 class available.

*Beginning Flute 101 – In this class, we start with the basics of putting your flute together and making your first sound then move on to playing simple exercises and songs. This is a week-to-week class, similar to private lessons, but not as comprehensive nor individually customized.

*Sing a Hymn – We start each class with a couple vocal warm-up exercises, we go over a brief background story of the song, then we learn to sing the song phrase by phrase. We work on a different hymn each week, and sheet music and piano accompaniments are provided.

*Piano 4 Kids – As the title suggests, it is a piano class geared towards kids who are just starting to learn piano. We play short, fun songs at beginner levels that focus on various music theory and piano technique concepts.

*Music Staff Wars – This class is for anyone who wants to better understand how to read the notes on the staff. I give you tips and tricks of how to remember where the letters go on the staff, we look at a variety of musical examples, then we play a couple quick games to test and practice what you’ve learned. This is a fun one-time event type class.

Again, these are just a few of the group classes I offer at TakeLessons.com/live and I’m adding more and switching them up all the time. The cost is per class and all my classes are 30 minutes long. Check out the links for each of these classes above or visit my profile page to see what other classes I’m offering this week.
