Big Change!

What does this mean??

I’ve been a little quiet on all social media fronts the past few weeks. I’ve just been trying to enjoy my summer and take a little break from screens and schedules, etc. Also there are a lot of changes and challenges happening in my life right now.

I’ve shared before about how I teach music at a small private Christian school that is a part of my church and we go to school year-round. I always get a few questions about how that works and I am happy to answer those questions but that will be for another day, another post.

The big thing I want to talk about today is that my school starts back this week!! They just had their first day of the new school year yesterday! I know, it sounds a little crazy and super early. But thats how we do it. BUT the thing that is NOT the same is that I am not going back to school with them.

Yes, you heard me correctly. I am not going back to my classroom. At least not for a while.

I have been battling some health issues along with some other personal challenges that have made it difficult to keep up with everything the past several months. And I felt it was necessary to take a step back from the classroom and focus on what’s most important to me, my health and taking care of my family.

I don’t know entirely what that means, how long this sabbatical will be, or what direction this will take me or even what this will look like going forward. But I know God is in control and this will be good for me in a lot of ways.

There are mixed feelings, of course. I have been a music teacher in the same classroom for 24+ years, almost half my life. So where do I go from here? Who am I if I’m not a music teacher?

I know, even though I don’t have a class or classroom, I am still a teacher at heart. I will still be here creating lots of fun and exciting materials, games, activities, and resources for other music teachers to use in their classrooms, for piano teachers to use in their lessons, and for Sunday school teachers to use in their classes.

I am excited to see what God has in store for me in the future. Maybe I will be back in my classroom sooner than I think. Maybe I will be in a new classroom somewhere else. Maybe I won’t ever go back to the classroom but I’ll be doing something completely different entirely. I don’t know. But for now, I’m still here and still creating music to share with you.

Your support means the world to me and I hope you will stick around to see where this journey will take me and what new adventures we will face together!
