Thanksgiving to Christmas

The changing of the holidays!

This week is Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday!) and its all about relaxing with family and friends and lots of good food!! And then by the end of the week we will officially be in the Christmas season! Some of you may have already slipped into Christmas mode but in my house there is no Christmas until the day AFTER Thanksgiving- no Christmas movies, decorations, music, or shopping! We like to focus on one holiday at a time to make each one the most special it can be!

With my TPT business, that is the one exception though as I’ve been working on Christmas stuff for a couple weeks now to get ready for the season!

Thanksgiving Must-Haves

BUT IF you are still teaching this week and are STILL looking for the perfect Thanksgiving activity for your music class, here is a list of fun easy-to-prep items you can find in my store: Turkey Dinner Write the Room (Rhythm offered in 3 different levels and a Solfege, or get the bundle of all of them together!!), Turkey Roll & Cover (a low-prep dice game which is a centers favorite!), and Turkey Trot Matching Game (a board game for either piano, recorder, or flute, or all 3 bundled together, where students practice reading notes on the staff and playing those notes on their instrument).

AND IF you are ready for Christmas fun, I’ve got you covered there too!

Christmas Essentials

Gingerbread Solfege Matching Game for So-Mi-La or for Do-Re-Mi-So-La is a new one for this season. Matching the solfege pattern on the gingerbread man to the same pattern on the candy piece (one pattern is on the staff and the matching pattern is not)!

Frosty’s Piano Path is my latest piano game up in my shop. It focuses on reading the music alphabet on the piano keys and on the treble clef and bass clef staffs. It also incorporates the use of sharps and flats, white keys and black keys but the game has several playing options to allow you to choose the cards and notes that best fit your students’ levels. If you have multiple students playing together who are at different levels, the game allows for that too for maximum fun for everyone!

Do you remember playing Truth or Dare as a teenager? This is a musical version though! And no one will get in trouble if you do the dares! This card game has a series of Truth cards where students must say something truthful about the musical term or symbol on the card and a series of Dare cards where students are asked to perform something musically, such as clap a rhythm, sing a familiar song or a solfege pattern, or play a note or rhythm on an instrument. There is a regular version but of course, there is also a Christmas version!! This one incorporates popular Christmas tunes into the singing and rhythms. Both secular and religious Christmas songs are included so you can choose what’s appropriate for your students.

Cyber Sale

WHY am I sharing all this at once??

Because they are ALL going to be on sale soon!! Monday December 2 and Tuesday December 3, TPT is having a sitewide Cyber Sale! Use code CYBER24 to get up to 25% off everything in my store including all of the above items I just mentioned!

Of course, if you need to buy Thanksgiving items, the sale will come too late for those this week BUT if you wait for the sale you can stock up for next year!

Relax with your turkey

At any rate, whether you are relishing Thanksgiving to the very end of the weekend or are already steeped in Christmas cheer, I hope you have a wonderful, restful, and delicious Thanksgiving with lots of family, friends, and yummy delicious foods. Enjoy your turkey, and ham, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie to the fullest (but save room for extra pie and ice cream!)
