No MAYhem allowed!

It’s the last full month of school for me. In fact, since I only teach one day a week, I have 6 classes left!!

Not that I’m counting down the days or anything.

But like many other teachers out there, I am ready for a break.

It’s been a rough year for me as I’ve had a lot of personal things going on in addition to somewhat of a career change for me and trying to learn a bunch of new things and keep up with my lessons and music classes, and being a housewife, and just being all around awesome. LOL!

So what do I do in the last 6 weeks of school?

Well, in April I talked a lot about centers. In May, I will probably continue with centers and small group work to a lesser extent. But I will also be focused on a couple musical story books for my younger kids, celebrating a couple fun holidays and theme days, and then the last couple weeks I have a few surprises.

May 4th: Star Wars Day

Not an official holiday but a fun day nonetheless. We pull out a few space related activities and worksheets. Last year I got this game called Use the Force from David Row at Make Moments Matter. It can be used digitally or printed and used manually to match rhythms to Star Wars character names.

There are also a TON of play along videos on Youtube with a Star Wars theme. One of my favorites is this one from NewNew Channel that involves movement! And this one from Musication that gets the kids playing with boomwhackers! And SO many others that involve rhythm, playing instruments, body percussion and movement!

Stay tuned to see what other theme days I have planned for May!
